Fast cars? Nice Houses? Long vacations? Not really. The true value of becoming a Millionaire is not because of the million dollars, but because of the person you have to become to be able to attain the status.
I would imagine that it is the dream of many to become rich, as rich as a millionaire and there are many different reasons as to why a person would want to become rich.
For a parent, it might be the ability to give their children not just what they need but what they want so that they can be among the privilege to grow up in a good family that always have the means to provide for them. For a young adult, it might be for social status so that they can better enjoy life and live it to the full, tasting the higher ends of toys such as fast cars and wonderful vacations. For younger ones, it might just be to be able to get what they want, the latest mobile phone and gadgets. For some, having wealth could simply mean to them being able to better help other people. What would you do with a million dollars?
Getting rich is a reachable goal, just like becoming a pilot, a doctor, a chef or just someone who is really good at what they do and not all of them will become rich in their profession, this is because becoming rich enough to become a millionaire is a whole different game. A person might want to become a doctor because he or she find it meaningful to help people recover from their sickness, a person may want to become a chef because he feels great when people praise his cooking, a person might want become a pilot because he likes flying. However, there are also people who go into a profession because of the possibility of a higher salary which indirectly could mean a better quality of life for themselves and their families. But what is so different about becoming a millionaire or even a multi-millionaire?
Yes, some of them may want to become rich because of pure greed and the toys wealth might bring to them but there are also others who have been enlightened about what it means to become a millionaire. How can ordinary salary-men and women attain millionaire status when the amount of their salaries just does not allow it. For example, if a person earns $50,000 annually, it would take 20 years of saving for him to achieve millionaire status, that is provided he does not spend a cent during these 20 years! An average saver could save $5,000 to $15,000 annually.
Why the average salary person is unlikely to become a millionaire
If a person saves $10,000 out of the $50,000 he earns annually, it would take him 100 years to become a millionaire! This is why the average person has a very low chance of becoming a millionaire. The truth is, becoming a self made millionaire takes not only financial skills but much more.
There are many skills and knowledge that are needed for a person to become rich enough to become a millionaire, but behind every ambition are reasons, reasons that can motivate a person to become more than average, to desire enough to become the best that he can be!
One needs a reason that is strong enough to prompt him into action, to continue in his quest of becoming a millionaire and often, the reason of owning fast cars and going for wonderful vacations are not strong enough factors to prompt a person to get what he desires. The reason of providing enough to make their families happy isn’t powerful enough too, I imagine that many will agree that having more excess money does not equate or promise a better family life or more happiness because of a great abundance of material possessions for themselves. Enlightened Millionaires think and look further than that, they know that the true value of becoming a millionaire if because of the person that they come in the process. These are some of the reasons why we chose to become millionaires:
Why become a Millionaire?
- Set the goal to become a millionaire for what it would take and make of you to achieve it.
- Do it for the skills you have to learn, the information you have to turn into knowledge and the person you have to become.
- Do it for the ability of discovering how to keep your emotions and ego in check.
- Do it because you have to learn to be benevolent, generous and kind yet stay strong and focused.
- Do it because you will have to be proficient and knowledgeable in how the world really works, by understanding the economy, business, society, politics, government, taxes, laws.
- Do it because you have to be an accomplished person to be able to reach the status of a millionaire.
Do you see any of the reasons of why you wanted to become a millionaire in the above mentioned reasons? If yes, my respect goes to you and I am glad to have found you because we share the same insights.

The society does its best to quell the “get rich thoughts”.
Somehow, the desire to get rich is looked down by others. I am with you on the reasons why you said one needs to get rich. I really liked it.
Here’s how to get rich now:
1. Believe in the Law of attraction and read a book called ” The Secret”
2. Get off your sorry butts and do something about it; take action.
3. Keep doing 1 and 2.
4. Never give up.
5. Work hard
6. Attain wealth and learn how to keep it.
7. Meanwhile, enjoy the process, pick those skills as Eric Puts it so well.

I agree with you on many things here, especially that the road to wealth is transformative…it’s way more than the process of accumulating money. I would submit, though, that the number “one million” needs to be updated in our minds…we need to change our paradigm away from this being the holy grail. The truth is that we’ve thought of the word “millionaire” as being the ultimate in financial success for eons now. To be a millionaire, in most of our minds, is to be financially free. I take serious issue with that. One million dollars is far from what it used to be. One million dollars was a good goal in the 20′s when we started to think this way, but damn…a million bucks these days is setting the bar pretty low. Just sayin.

@Christian: Thanks for the nice comment. I do agree with you :) It wasn’t what it used to be for the definition of a million.
The journey starts with a dream.
Acting on your dream keeps you on it.
Sharing every moment with your love ones boost you to stardom.
Without that it makes the whole journey long and tiring. Enthusiasm and passion should not die like that. It is taboo to let dream die. Keep it alive. Life it and take the necessary action.
If you interested! Join me in the journey to be the next millionaire!
Cheers!
Absolutely Brilliant Post!
I agree with everything you said, but remember when setting goals be prepared for some failures, they just make you better!

Wow, awesome article!!!! I totally agree with everything you wrote. I intend to be a millionaire for the FREEDOM and lifestyle that the money can give you. I also intend to GIVE back to others which I am already doing through my listings on Ebay.
Great job Eric!!!!
PS Is your goal to be a millionare or multi millionaire?
Great article. I agree with everything you said. The thing that keeps me motivated in my quest to become a millionaire is the financial freedom. People often look down on my dream and tell me things like ‘money isn’t everything’…and I know that they’re completely missing the point. They think that I’m too materialistic, they think that I like money a lot, but they are wrong. I don’t like money, I HATE money. That’s why I want lots of it so that I won’t have to worry about it. I’ll spend every moment enjoying and celebrating life. I won’t have to worry about mundane things like paying the bills and struggling to make ends meet. I want to enjoy myself, I want to help people, I want my life to mean something, I want to leave this world knowing that I made it better. These are all the motivations I need.
If you share this dream, don’t give up. The rewards are beyond any of your wildest dreams. Never crave a mediocre life, there is nothing worse than being ordinary.
Jesmond, well said. Capitalism is misunderstood. It’s unfortunate but has always been that way.
