Fearless Decisions without Guarantees

We all have decisions to make, there is only one thing that separates most of us. The ability to make fearless decisions even if we are not sure we are absolutely right. This is because if a decision is proven to be the right one, then making it is easy, anyone could do it. The thing that differentiates the dream taker and the normal person is the courage to make decisions in situations that no one could guaranteed that it is the right one to make.

Consider this:

Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities… because it is the quality which guarantees all others."

– Winston Churchill

He who walks on tip-toe does not walk on solid ground.

– LAO TZU

Most people cringe and fear to make decisions that cannot be proven right for they are afraid of being the one to be blamed if the decision is proven wrong. They have lost from the beginning; for they are so bent on not making mistakes that they have deprived themselves of the focus to make things right no matter if the decision is right or wrong.

If we are closed on ourselves, unwilling to risk anything, then what else can be done? Take risks, but take calculated risks. Always have a backup plan to stand up again from a fall which should not keep you down forever.

Easy decisions are… easy. But it’s the difficult ones, the ones that require courage, that define you and will probably lead to growth (which is of course, uncomfortable).

Thanks for posting this article. I’ve been thinking about it ever since I read it in my GReader and have actually shared it with a number of friends.

Buzzed it on Yahoo. Have a great one!

This is so true, and it never seems to change! People want guarantees, but the most value always comes from taking calculated risk.
